B.Tech 5th Semester (2011-2015) Civil Engineering Students visited the Sabarmati Canal Syphon, Narmada main canal and Sabarmati Escape as part of their study curriculum related to the subject Hydrology and Water Resources Engineering. They were shown the Narmada Main Canal which takes off from the pond No.4 near Sardar Sarovar dam at Kevadia and the Canal Syphon cum Cross Regulator structure which is constructed on Narmada Main Canal. The escape structure was also shown which is constructed on Narmada Main Canal upstream Of Sabarmati canal syphon to release the water from NMC to Sabarmati river to meet the Irrigation demand, requirement of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, Ahmedabad Electricity Co. and also to release the water in river Sabarmati if any emergency situation arises. The Engineers posted there also explained about the design details of these structures to the students. They also visited the State Water Data Center where rainfall and flood are collected and stored.
